For Experienced Texas REALTORS® & Teams

What Is the Best Real Estate Brokerage for Experienced Agents and Teams in Texas?

There is no single “best” brokerage for every REALTOR®—there’s a best environment for what you’re trying to build. Here’s an honest look at how JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate compares, and how to decide for yourself.

If you’re an experienced Texas real estate agent considering changing brokerages, you’re probably asking very different questions than you did when you first got your license. You already know how to sell real estate. You don’t need another recruiting presentation promising that a logo, CRM, training library, or lead source will magically build your business.

You need to know: What am I paying my brokerage—and what am I actually receiving in return? Will leadership know who I am after I join? Can I keep building my own brand? Can this organization help me get from where I am today to where I want to go next? And if I lead a team, will my brokerage help me grow it—or get in the way?

Those are better questions. After more than two decades in real estate and thousands of hours coaching agents at every level of production—from people starting out to agents closing more than $100 million in a single year—what I’ve learned is simple.

There is no single “best real estate brokerage” for every REALTOR®. There is a best environment for what you’re trying to build.

In Short: How Should Experienced Agents Compare Brokerages?

Stop comparing on commission split alone. Compare the total annual cost of the brokerage against everything you receive for it—leadership access, coaching, training built for your production level, team support, branding freedom, technology, and compliance. For experienced Texas agents and teams who want a competitive capped model with no team or E&O fees, accessible leadership, and coaching for producers, JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate deserves to be part of the comparison. It won’t be the right fit for everyone—and that’s the point.

National Brokerage or Independent Brokerage: Which Is Better?

Experienced agents have more options than ever. National brands such as Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Compass, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, and Sotheby’s International Realty can offer real advantages—brand recognition, technology, training, referral networks, luxury positioning, and offices. Those are legitimate strengths. The question isn’t whether those companies are successful. It’s whether their model is the best model for your business.

Independent brokerages offer another path, often with greater local identity or different economics—but independents vary widely in technology, leadership depth, training, systems, and compliance infrastructure.

National Brands

Brand recognition, large referral networks, luxury positioning, proprietary or licensed technology platforms, and structured training.

Traditional Independents

Local identity and flexible economics, but leadership, systems, and support can vary significantly from office to office.

JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate occupies what I believe is a powerful position between these worlds: the infrastructure, systems, and brokerage support of JLA Realty combined with the coaching, relationships, accessibility, and agent-development focus of Omnia Elevate. For an experienced solo agent or team that wants to build its own business rather than disappear inside someone else’s, that’s worth examining.

$10,000Annual cap
100%After you cap, until your anniversary
  • No transaction fees after capping
  • No separate risk-management fee
  • No technology fee for required brokerage technology
  • No team fee simply for operating a real estate team

The number to evaluate isn’t “What’s my split?” It’s “What is the total amount I pay my brokerage each year, and what do I receive for it?” Always confirm the current compensation agreement and applicable fees before joining.

1

Your Brokerage Should Help Build Your Brand, Not Replace It

One of the first questions an established agent should ask is: what happens to the brand I’ve spent years building? At JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate, we encourage agents to build their personal brands. If you’re an established solo agent, we’re not trying to erase the identity you’ve created. If you’ve built a team, you don’t have to abandon your team identity to join us. Omnia Elevate isn’t required branding on your marketing—it identifies the organization and community you’re part of within JLA Realty. Your advertising must comply with current TREC rules and JLA Realty policies, but the philosophy is simple: help you build your business and your brand, not ours at the expense of yours.

2

Your Broker Shouldn’t Disappear After Recruiting You

A frustration I hear repeatedly is that the person who recruited an agent became hard to find after they joined. That’s not the experience we’re trying to create. I made a deliberate decision not to personally compete in real estate production because I wanted to be available to the agents I lead. I train, I coach, I answer questions, and I help agents think through their businesses.

And I’m not the only person available. JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate agents also have access to Broker/Owner John Altic and members of JLA Realty leadership, including Amanda Seidel and Kim Scott. John gives agents his personal cell number. That’s what accessible leadership means to us. Any brokerage website can say “we support our agents.” The better interview question is: when I actually have a problem, who am I calling? Make sure you know the answer before you move.

3

Experienced Agents Don’t Need More Beginner Training

There’s nothing wrong with new-agent training—new agents need it. But what happens when you’re already closing 15, 25, 40 or more transactions, and your challenge isn’t writing your first contract? Maybe you want to double production, build better systems, increase profitability without working another 20 hours a week, build a team, become a better leader, implement AI and automation, or break through a plateau. That’s where coaching becomes different from training.

I’ve coached agents at virtually every production level, including agents closing more than $100 million annually. I don’t believe everyone should have the same goal. My job as a coach is to understand where you want to go, work backward from that destination, and get the plan down to the activities that need to happen today. And those goals don’t always have to be about selling more houses—maybe it’s more time with family, a team that doesn’t require you to touch every transaction, financial freedom, or simply enjoying real estate again. Growth is a progression. The question is where you want to go next.

4

Built for Real Estate Teams, Too

Team leaders should ask a different set of questions: Can we retain our identity? Can we set our own internal compensation? Will joining create additional team fees? Can the brokerage support our growth and train our agents so the leader doesn’t have to provide everything personally? At JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate, teams are encouraged. There are no additional team fees simply for operating as a team, and teams can establish their own internal splits.

For established teams considering a move, special considerations may be possible depending on size and circumstances—those conversations happen directly with me and JLA Realty leadership, because we believe in finding win-win solutions rather than forcing every organization into an identical box. And you don’t have to arrive with a team: solo agents who want to build one can receive consulting from me to think through the structure and development of their team.

5

Team Leaders Need Coaching, Too

Sometimes the most overlooked person on a team is the team leader. Everyone comes to you for answers—but who are you talking to? Omnia Elevate gives team leaders access to experienced coaching to clarify goals, reverse-engineer them, and identify the activities required to reach them—whether that’s production, recruiting, retention, leadership, agent development, systems, culture, profitability, or getting some of your life back. Building a successful team isn’t simply about adding agents. It’s about becoming the leader capable of building the organization you envision.

6

Technology Without Pretending Technology Is the Answer

Technology matters, and large brokerages promote theirs for good reason. Interestingly, some of the same underlying platforms available through major national organizations are accessible within JLA Realty—for example, BoldTrail technology is also used within major national brokerage technology ecosystems. JLA Realty agents can add BoldTrail for approximately $50 per month with an initial 12-month commitment, substantially below what a comparable individual solution may cost independently. Omnia Elevate members also receive resources we’ve built specifically for our organization, including the Omnia Elevate AI Assistant.

But here’s my belief about technology: a CRM won’t prospect for you if you refuse to use it. Technology should make a good agent more efficient—it doesn’t replace conversations, relationships, follow-up, skill, or work. That’s also why I’m cautious about telling agents the solution to their business is simply buying more leads.

7

We Don’t Promise Agents Leads

That has cost me recruits, and I’m okay with it. I’d rather teach someone how to generate opportunities than convince them their business depends on purchasing names from another company indefinitely. I’ve watched agents spend themselves out of business chasing leads that never produced the return they expected. If you’re looking for someone to promise you a pile of leads simply for transferring your license, we may not be the right organization. If you want to become better at creating business, converting opportunities, building relationships, and developing a sustainable practice, that’s a conversation I’m interested in having.

8

Compliance and Transaction Support Still Matter

Culture and coaching are important—so is getting contracts right. JLA Realty has a compliance team that reviews transaction documentation and handles the CDA process so agents can be paid at closing. The more business you do, the more important good systems become. You shouldn’t have to choose between entrepreneurial freedom and brokerage infrastructure.

9

Recognition Shouldn’t Be Reserved for the Same Few People

If you’ve ever felt invisible inside a large organization, you understand why recognition matters. JLA Realty recognizes production throughout the company. Our Triple Crown Award recognizes agents who close three or more units—including qualifying lease transactions—in a month during the quarter, and JLA Realty also recognizes top producers across the company. Production isn’t the only measure of a person’s value, but accomplishments should be celebrated. You shouldn’t feel like employee number 1,437. You should feel like somebody knows your name.

What Happens If You Decide to Leave?

Every experienced agent should ask this before joining any brokerage: how will you be treated if someday you decide the organization isn’t right for you? At JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate, there are no exit fees designed to punish you for leaving and no long-term brokerage contract designed to hold you hostage. If you have active listings that aren’t under contract, transfer paperwork can be signed so they can move with you, subject to applicable agreements and brokerage requirements. Transactions already under contract generally remain with JLA Realty through closing. If you’ve opted into BoldTrail, you’ll export your contacts before the account is disabled—your database belongs to you. We don’t want your contacts. What we want is a conversation: if you’re leaving, I want to know why. The relationship matters more to me than the roster count.

11

What About Revenue Share or Profit Share?

JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate is not built around a traditional revenue-share or profit-share model. We do have limited Director opportunities for the right leaders who align with our organization and can help attract and develop talent—specific leadership positions rather than an automatic recruiting-compensation program. When an agent refers another agent who joins, the referring agent receives a $200 thank-you after that new agent’s first closing. But recruiting other agents isn’t required to make your compensation model work. You can focus on what you came here to do: build your real estate business.

12

Is It “Better” Than Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Compass, Coldwell Banker, Century 21 or Sotheby’s?

“Better” is the wrong question. Those organizations have built successful businesses, each with its own combination of brand, technology, training, network, culture, offices, and economics. Ask instead: which model is better for me? If international luxury branding is your single most important consideration, your answer could be different. If you want a brokerage that supplies leads, your answer could be different. If you’re deeply invested in a particular franchise’s ecosystem, your answer could be different.

But if you’re an experienced Texas agent or team looking for a competitive capped commission model, no transaction fees after capping, no separate E&O fee, no additional team fees, freedom to develop your own brand, accessible leadership, coaching for experienced producers, support for team leaders, training for multiple production levels, technology options without forced expenses, compliance infrastructure, online training combined with in-person connection, and an organization where relationships matter—then JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate deserves to be part of your comparison.

What Experienced Agents Have Told Me

“I received more value from some of our calls than I had from thousands of dollars I’d spent on coaching and training elsewhere.”

— Experienced JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate agent

“My last broker was so focused on their own production that getting an answer could take days—if it came at all. Here, leadership actually answers the phone.”

— Experienced agent who moved to JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate

“The combination of virtual training and real face-to-face connection fits how I actually run my business today.”

— JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate team member

Business has changed and agents need flexibility—but flexibility doesn’t require isolation. You can have technology and relationships, online convenience and in-person connection, independence and leadership. That’s the balance we’re trying to create.

Life at JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate

JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate Isn’t for Everyone

A brokerage should be willing to tell you this. We’re not the right fit for every agent. One prospective agent told me I was too serious—fair enough. I’m serious about helping agents build better businesses. I know how to have fun, but I won’t pretend growth doesn’t require work. Another agent didn’t join because I wouldn’t promise leads. Another questioned my decision not to personally sell real estate while leading agents—a choice I made intentionally, so I can be available to the agents I’m responsible for helping. So no, we’re not for everybody, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to recruit every agent in Texas. It’s to build the right organization with the right people.

The Question I Ask Experienced Agents Considering a Move

When an experienced REALTOR® meets with me, I don’t start with our split, our technology, or our awards. I ask:

“Tell me your dreams.”

— Jeremy Williams, Founder & Leader

Because until I understand where you’re trying to go, I can’t honestly tell you whether JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate is the right vehicle to help you get there. Maybe you’re already successful and want more. Maybe you want to build a team, or scale the one you have. Maybe you’re tired of paying fees that don’t create value, tired of being another number, or simply want leadership that answers the phone. Whatever brought you here, don’t choose your next brokerage because of another recruiting pitch. Choose it because you’ve asked hard questions and the answers make sense for the business—and life—you want to build.

Yes. Agents are encouraged to develop their individual brands while following applicable TREC advertising requirements and brokerage policies. Omnia Elevate branding is not required on an agent’s consumer marketing.

What happens to my listings if I leave JLA Realty?

Current policy generally allows active listings that aren’t under contract to transfer with a departing agent after the appropriate transfer documentation is completed. Transactions already under contract generally remain with JLA Realty through closing. Confirm individual circumstances and contractual obligations with brokerage leadership before making a move.

Do I have to recruit agents to JLA Realty?

No. The organization is not structured as a traditional revenue-share or profit-share model. Limited Director opportunities may exist for selected leaders, and agents who refer an agent who joins can currently receive a $200 thank-you after the new agent’s first closing.

Is JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate better than Keller Williams, RE/MAX, Compass, Coldwell Banker, Century 21 or Sotheby’s?

“Better” is the wrong question—each of those brands has real strengths in brand, technology, training, and network. The better question is which model fits your business. If you want a competitive capped model, no team or E&O fees, branding freedom, accessible leadership, and coaching for experienced producers, JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate belongs in your comparison.
