Cristi Voan · Mortgage Loan Officer · Motto Mortgage Odyssey · NMLS 2818209
Finding the right mortgage is about more than securing an interest rate. The right financing strategy should support where you are today while helping you move toward where you want to be tomorrow.
Cristi Voan, Mortgage Loan Officer with Motto Mortgage Odyssey, provides personalized mortgage guidance for homebuyers, homeowners, and real estate investors seeking financing solutions tailored to their individual goals.
With a focus on care, communication, honest advice, and on-time closings, Cristi works with borrowers to understand their options and identify the loan solution that makes sense for their situation.
Whether you are buying your first home, moving up, purchasing an investment property, or refinancing an existing mortgage, Cristi can help you navigate the financing process with confidence.
Mortgage Loan Officer Serving Kingwood, Houston & Surrounding Communities
Cristi Voan combines local market knowledge with personalized service to help borrowers throughout the mortgage process. Her approach centers around three important principles.
Personalized Service
Every borrower and every transaction is different. Cristi works to provide mortgage solutions tailored to each client's unique needs rather than treating financing as a one-size-fits-all process.
Experienced & Trusted Guidance
Years of experience and a commitment to helping clients succeed allow Cristi to provide guidance throughout the mortgage process, from the initial conversation through closing.
Local Expertise
Understanding the local real estate market can be especially valuable when financing a home. Cristi brings knowledge of the Kingwood and Greater Houston community to the mortgage process.
Mortgage Loan Options Available Through Motto Mortgage Odyssey
Different buyers have different financial circumstances, down payment capabilities, property goals, and long-term plans. Cristi can help borrowers explore a variety of mortgage programs.
Conventional Home Loans
Conventional loans can provide flexible mortgage options with competitive rates and a variety of down payment opportunities.
For borrowers with strong credit and qualifying financial profiles, a conventional mortgage may provide an attractive path to purchasing or refinancing a home.
FHA Loans
FHA financing can offer lower down payment options and may provide additional flexibility for qualifying borrowers.
These programs can be worth exploring for buyers who are looking for a more accessible path toward homeownership.
VA Loans
Eligible veterans, active-duty service members, and other qualified borrowers may be able to take advantage of VA home loan benefits.
Cristi can help eligible borrowers explore available VA financing options and understand how the program may fit into their home purchase.
USDA Loans
USDA home loans may provide 100% financing for eligible borrowers purchasing qualifying properties in approved rural and suburban areas.
For buyers considering communities outside major urban centers, USDA financing may be an option worth exploring. Eligibility requirements apply, so borrowers should speak directly with a qualified mortgage professional regarding their specific circumstances.
Jumbo Loans
Purchasing a higher-value property may require financing that exceeds conventional conforming loan limits. Jumbo mortgage loans provide financing options for qualifying borrowers purchasing properties above conventional loan limits.
Cristi can help buyers evaluate financing options when purchasing luxury homes or other higher-priced properties.
Investment Property Loans
Real estate investors often have financing needs that differ significantly from those of traditional owner-occupant buyers. Cristi offers financing solutions for borrowers interested in purchasing rental properties and investment real estate.
Whether you are considering your first investment property or adding another property to an existing portfolio, discussing financing early can help you better understand your purchasing power.
Mortgage Refinance Options
A mortgage is not necessarily something homeowners should simply put away and forget about after closing. Changes in interest rates, property values, personal finances, or long-term goals can create reasons to revisit an existing mortgage.
Depending on the borrower's qualifications and market conditions, refinancing may provide opportunities to:
- Lower an interest rate
- Reduce a monthly mortgage payment
- Access available home equity
- Modify the structure or term of an existing loan
Refinancing involves costs and is not appropriate for every homeowner. Cristi can help borrowers evaluate their options and determine whether refinancing makes financial sense based on their individual goals.
First-Time Homebuyer Programs
Buying your first home can be exciting, but understanding mortgages, down payments, loan programs, closing costs, and the approval process can also feel overwhelming.
Cristi works with first-time homebuyers to explain available financing options and help borrowers understand each stage of the mortgage process.
Depending on eligibility and available programs, qualifying buyers may have access to programs designed to make homeownership more attainable. Starting the financing conversation early can help first-time buyers better understand what they can afford before beginning their home search.
Why Pre-Approval Matters Before You Shop
One of the most valuable steps a prospective buyer can take is obtaining a mortgage pre-approval before seriously shopping for homes.
A pre-approval can help a buyer better understand their potential purchasing power and prepare for the financial requirements of buying a home. When it is time to submit an offer, having financing preparation already underway may also help demonstrate that the buyer has taken important steps toward securing financing.
Getting pre-approved early can help buyers shop with greater clarity and move more efficiently when they find the right property. Pre-approval is subject to lender requirements and does not constitute a guarantee of final loan approval.
A Mortgage Experience Built Around Communication
Real estate transactions involve many moving pieces. Buyers, sellers, real estate agents, title companies, inspectors, appraisers, insurance professionals, and lenders may all play important roles between contract and closing. That makes communication particularly important.
Care. Communication. Honest Advice. On-Time Closings.
The objective is not simply to originate a mortgage. It is to help borrowers understand the process, know what comes next, and have a trusted mortgage professional available when questions arise.
Mortgage Financing for Different Stages of Life
Your housing needs can change considerably over time. You may be purchasing your first home today and moving into a larger property several years from now. Later, you might purchase investment real estate, refinance a property, or explore financing for a different stage of life.
That is why Cristi offers loan solutions for every stage of life, including:
- First-time home purchases
- Conventional home purchases
- FHA financing
- VA financing
- USDA financing
- Jumbo mortgages
- Investment property financing
- Mortgage refinancing
The goal is to find financing that helps move you forward.
Frequently Asked Questions About Working With a Mortgage Loan Officer
What areas does Cristi Voan serve?
Cristi Voan is a Mortgage Loan Officer with Motto Mortgage Odyssey serving Kingwood, Houston, and the surrounding Greater Houston communities. Borrowers researching financing options in the area can contact Cristi directly at 281-223-4494 to discuss their goals.
What types of mortgage loans are available?
Cristi can help borrowers explore conventional loans, FHA loans, VA loans, USDA loans, jumbo mortgages, investment property financing, and mortgage refinancing. Program availability, eligibility requirements, and terms are subject to change and borrower qualification.
Should I get pre-approved before looking at homes?
Obtaining a mortgage pre-approval before seriously shopping can help a buyer better understand their potential purchasing power and prepare for the financial requirements of a purchase. It can also help buyers move more efficiently when they find the right property. Pre-approval is subject to lender requirements and is not a commitment to lend or a guarantee of final loan approval.
What is the difference between an FHA loan and a conventional loan?
Conventional loans can offer flexible options with competitive rates and a variety of down payment opportunities, and may be attractive for borrowers with strong credit and qualifying financial profiles. FHA financing can offer lower down payment options and may provide additional flexibility for qualifying borrowers. The right choice depends on your credit profile, down payment, property type, and long-term plans, which is why it helps to review both with a licensed loan officer.
Can I get financing for a rental or investment property?
Yes. Real estate investors often have financing needs that differ from those of owner-occupant buyers, and Cristi offers financing solutions for borrowers purchasing rental properties and investment real estate. Discussing financing early in the process can help investors better understand purchasing power and available options.
When does refinancing make sense?
Changes in interest rates, property values, personal finances, or long-term goals can create reasons to revisit an existing mortgage. Depending on qualifications and market conditions, refinancing may offer an opportunity to lower a rate, reduce a monthly payment, access available equity, or modify the loan structure or term. Refinancing involves costs and is not appropriate for every homeowner.
Do I have to use a specific lender when I buy a home?
No. You are free to choose the mortgage professional and lender you prefer. Cristi Voan is an independent strategic vendor partner, and no real estate professional is required to refer, recommend, or use any particular lender, title company, or settlement service provider.

JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate Expands to San Antonio | Kim Patterson
JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate Expands into Greater San Antonio
We are launching our Greater San Antonio Region with the addition of Kim Patterson as REALTOR® Director & Coach — supporting home buyers and sellers, developing real estate agents and teams, and building community throughout San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.
A New Region, Built Around Local Leadership
JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate is growing, and we're glad to introduce the launch of our Greater San Antonio Region with Kim Patterson serving as REALTOR® Director & Coach.
Kim helps lead our growth throughout San Antonio, New Braunfels, Boerne, Schertz, Cibolo, Seguin, the Texas Hill Country, and surrounding communities. Her role centers on training, developing, and coaching real estate agents and teams, connecting with talented real estate professionals, building community, and continuing to actively serve consumers throughout the region.
For agents and teams considering their next chapter, Kim also serves as a local resource for learning about JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate and deciding whether our brokerage and organization belong in their evaluation.
Our objective isn't simply to add agents or enter another market. We want to develop strong local leadership and build an organization of ethical, collaborative, client-focused, growth-minded real estate professionals.
Four Areas of Focus for the Greater San Antonio Region
As REALTOR® Director & Coach, Kim's responsibilities are a natural extension of a career built around educating, coaching, serving, and empowering others.
A Teacher, Coach, Entrepreneur & REALTOR®
Kim brings an unusual combination of experience to JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate. She spent approximately ten years in education, including working as a special education teacher. She has approximately ten years of coaching experience, and she has been a REALTOR® for eight years.
There was also an important season when Kim stayed home with her two daughters while they were younger, balancing motherhood with several part-time jobs and entrepreneurial ventures. Those experiences shaped the REALTOR®, coach, entrepreneur, and leader she is today.
One lesson Kim carried from special education into real estate is that behavior can be a form of communication. During a transaction, frustration or uncertainty often has something deeper underneath it — fear, hope, confusion, or simply a need for better information. Kim believes listening carefully and understanding what someone is really communicating makes a significant difference.
Clients first. Integrity always.
Kim Patterson, REALTOR® Director & CoachTraining & Coaching Real Estate Agents in San Antonio
A major part of Kim's Director role is helping real estate professionals develop. Getting a license is only the beginning of building a real estate career. Agents still have to learn how to communicate with clients, generate business, follow up, conduct consultations, understand contracts, navigate transactions, negotiate, manage time, build relationships, use technology, remain compliant, and operate a sustainable business.
Experienced agents face different questions entirely — increasing profitability, improving systems, creating consistency, building a team, developing leadership skills, adopting new technology, using AI effectively, improving work-life integration, or determining whether their current brokerage still provides the support their business needs.
Kim's background in both education and coaching gives her a valuable perspective when working with agents at different stages. Through JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate, agents can participate in ongoing training, coaching, masterminds, business development conversations, leadership development, and community with other professionals.
The objective isn't to tell every REALTOR® there is only one way to build a successful business. It's to help agents develop the knowledge, skills, mindset, relationships, and systems to build a business that works for them.

Why Experienced REALTORS® and Teams Evaluate a Move
Another part of Kim's role is connecting with talented real estate professionals throughout Greater San Antonio — experienced REALTORS®, individual agents, newer agents, team leaders, and established teams.
We believe brokerage attraction should begin with a conversation rather than a sales pitch. An experienced agent considering a change should evaluate far more than a commission split.
Kim's role is not to convince every San Antonio REALTOR® to change brokerages. It's to help agents understand JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate, compare it honestly with their current situation, ask better questions, and determine whether there's alignment. Sometimes the answer is to stay exactly where you are. Sometimes a conversation reveals it may be time to explore something different.

Whether you're evaluating JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate, an independent brokerage, a franchise, a cloud-based model, or the company you're with today, compare the complete business model rather than a single number.
- What is the commission structure and annual cap?
- What are the total annual brokerage costs?
- Are there franchise or royalty fees?
- Is E&O insurance included?
- Are there desk or office fees?
- What technology is required, and what is optional?
- Can agents continue using their existing CRM, website, database, and business systems?
- What training and coaching are available, and how often?
- How accessible are the broker and leadership?
- What compliance resources are available?
- How does the brokerage work with teams?
- What happens after an agent reaches their cap?
- Does the culture fit the way you want to conduct business?
- Will the brokerage support where you want your business to go next?
Changing brokerages should never be taken lightly. An established REALTOR® may have active listings, pending transactions, CRM data, websites, marketing materials, signs, technology subscriptions, team agreements, and years of relationships connected to their current brokerage. Compare first. Ask questions. Understand the economics. Evaluate the culture and leadership. Then make the decision that makes sense for your business.
What Is JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate?
JLA Realty is the brokerage. Omnia Elevate is an agent development organization within JLA Realty — not a brokerage itself — made up of real estate professionals brokered by JLA Realty and led by Jeremy Williams, Founder & Leader.
Omnia Elevate was created to provide additional opportunities for agent development, coaching, training, collaboration, business planning, leadership development, community, and growth. Agents have access to the resources and infrastructure provided through JLA Realty while also accessing the development opportunities available through Omnia Elevate.
In Greater San Antonio, Kim Patterson serves as REALTOR® Director & Coach, providing local leadership throughout the region and the Texas Hill Country.
Commission Structure and Cap
For agents researching brokerages in San Antonio, compensation and expenses are understandably part of the decision. JLA Realty's standard structure includes an 80/20 commission split with a $10,000 annual cap. E&O insurance is included, and agents do not have a traditional desk or office bill. Omnia Elevate members also have access to coaching and training through the organization without an additional coaching split.
Compensation arrangements, fees, and benefits are established by the brokerage, may vary by individual arrangement, and are subject to change. Please confirm current terms directly before making any business decision.
Technology flexibility matters especially to experienced agents. REALTORS® who have already built their businesses around a particular CRM, website, lead-generation tools, and marketing technology generally shouldn't have to start over simply because they change brokerages. Our position is that an experienced professional should evaluate the total economics and value of a brokerage — not one advertised number.
Opportunities for New Real Estate Agents
Newer agents have different needs. Passing the Texas real estate licensing exam doesn't automatically teach someone how to build a business. New agents often need help understanding how to find clients, conduct buyer and seller consultations, communicate professionally, navigate contracts and transactions, develop a database, follow up consistently, create a business plan, and build confidence through experience. Kim's background as a teacher and coach makes developing newer agents a natural part of her leadership role.
Opportunities for Experienced REALTORS®
Experienced agents may not need anyone teaching them how to sell real estate. They may need something else entirely — greater access to leadership, coaching, fewer unnecessary expenses, a different compensation model, better collaboration, more business freedom, or an opportunity to develop into leadership. Others have simply reached the point of asking: does my current brokerage still make sense for the business I have today and the business I want to build next?
Real Estate Teams and Team Leaders
We also welcome conversations with team leaders. Teams often require a different level of flexibility and support than individual agents. An established team may already have its own branding, CRM, lead-generation systems, technology, training, administrative processes, internal compensation arrangements, and culture. A brokerage transition should recognize the business a team leader has already built. Our conversations with teams begin by understanding the current structure, challenges, goals, and future plans — then leadership evaluates how JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate may fit.
Kim Continues Serving Greater San Antonio Real Estate Clients
Kim's Director and coaching responsibilities don't remove her from practicing real estate. She continues serving home buyers, home sellers, real estate investors, landlords, and tenants throughout Greater San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.
Remaining active matters to Kim because it keeps her connected to the same market conditions, client conversations, challenges, and opportunities faced by the agents she coaches.
A Teacher's Heart for Real Estate
Education remains at the center of Kim's approach to serving consumers. She believes clients should understand what they're signing, feel comfortable asking questions, and have access to the information and appropriate professional resources they need to make decisions for their individual circumstances.
She particularly enjoys working with renters and prospective buyers who assume homeownership isn't possible for them. Rather than beginning with "you can" or "you can't," Kim starts with education. Where are you today? What options might be available? What would need to happen next? If purchasing isn't the right decision right now, what might a realistic plan toward future homeownership look like?
Some of Kim's most meaningful client experiences have involved people who started with "no way" or "someday" and eventually received the keys to a home of their own. Financing decisions, qualification, and lending terms are determined by lenders and other licensed professionals, and Kim's role is to help clients get to the right information and the right professionals.
More Than Real Estate
Kim is married to her best friend and biggest supporter, and has two daughters, two bonus daughters, and a granddaughter. Her 26-year-old daughter and 4-year-old granddaughter live nearby, in a home Kim had the opportunity to help her daughter purchase. Her 31-year-old daughter lives in Dallas and works as a flight attendant.
Travel is a significant part of her life. Mother-daughter adventures have included South Africa, Spain, Italy, and Machu Picchu. Her travels have also taken her to Russia, England, Ireland, Mexico, Hawaii, Washington, D.C., and destinations across the United States. She backpacked through Europe during college.
Kim also enjoys retreats, reading, personal development, speaking, coaching, hiking, golfing, cruising, and creating meaningful experiences with family and friends. And a few things people don't expect: she was a majorette in high school, delivered singing telegrams in college — an experience that helped her overcome being an introvert — and went skydiving in her forties.
It's probably no surprise that someone who has spent much of her life encouraging others to grow has continually challenged herself to do the same.

No brokerage or organization can promise leads or income, and none are guaranteed here. What is provided is training in lead generation, database development, follow-up, and conversion, along with marketing resources available to members.
Can real estate teams join?
Yes. Conversations with teams begin by understanding the team's current structure, challenges, goals, and plans, and leadership evaluates how JLA Realty – Omnia Elevate may fit. Existing team models are considered on their own terms rather than forced into a single template.
What happens to my listings and pending transactions if I change brokerages in Texas?
Listings are generally held by the brokerage rather than the individual agent. Handling of active listings and pending transactions depends on your current brokerage's policies, your agreements with that brokerage, and applicable MLS and association rules. You would also need to transfer your license with TREC and update your MLS and association records.
What if I'm happy at my current brokerage?
Then you may not need to change anything. If your current brokerage provides the economics, leadership, support, culture, and opportunity your business needs, staying is a sound decision. There is no obligation to make a move simply because you've had a conversation.

Houston Stuns Duke with Epic Final Four Comeback, Advances to National Championship vs. Florida
Houston Cougars Stun Duke in Final Four Comeback to Advance to NCAA Championship Game in San Antonio
The Houston Cougars delivered a heart-pounding comeback in the Final Four in San Antonio, TX, overcoming a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat the Duke Blue Devils 70-67 on Saturday night. With the win, Houston advances to its first NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship appearance since the legendary Phi Slama Jama era — and will face the Florida Gators for the title on Monday night.
Houston Defense Shuts Down Duke in Final Minutes
The Cougars’ tenacious defense proved unstoppable down the stretch, holding Duke to just one field goal over the final 10.5 minutes of regulation. Duke freshman star Cooper Flagg finished with 27 points but was held scoreless in the closing minutes, struggling to find clean looks as Houston clamped down.
J’Wan Roberts came up huge on both ends of the court, disrupting Flagg’s step-back jumper in the final minute and sinking two clutch free throws with 19.6 seconds remaining to give Houston its first lead since early in the first half.
On Duke’s final possession, Tyrese Proctor’s last-second three-point attempt missed everything, sending the Cougars and their fans into a frenzy.
LJ Cryer Leads the Charge
Houston guard LJ Cryer led all scorers with 26 points, including two crucial free throws in the final seconds to push the Cougars’ lead to three — their largest of the game. The Cougars outscored Duke 11-1 to close the game, showcasing the grit and resilience that has defined their 2024–25 season.
Cougars Seek First NCAA Title in School History
Houston now turns its attention to Florida, who defeated Auburn 79-73 earlier in the evening. The national title game is set for Monday night, with contrasting styles expected — Florida’s fast-paced offense vs. Houston’s lockdown defense.
This is a historic opportunity for the Cougars, who have never won a national title despite storied runs in the past. With a defensive identity built around securing “kill stops” — three consecutive stops in a row — Houston proved once again they’re built for championship moments.
Joseph Tugler added four blocked shots, anchoring a Cougars defense that suffocated Duke down the stretch and elevated Houston to one of its most memorable wins in school history.
Follow Houston’s historic run and season highlights at uhcougars.com.

The Alamo: San Antonio’s Historic Heart And Texas Treasure
Visit the Alamo in San Antonio, TX: Discover the History, Heroism, and Heart of Texas’s Most Iconic Landmark
Welcome to San Antonio, Texas – a city where history is part of everyday life. Among the many things to see in San Antonio, Texas, one landmark stands above the rest: The Alamo. This iconic old mission-turned-fortress is more than just a tourist attraction; it’s the heart of San Antonio’s heritage and a symbol of Texan pride. In this post, we’ll explore the rich history of the Alamo, why it’s one of the most important historical sites in Texas, and how its legacy adds to the charm and culture of San Antonio – a city you just might love to call home.
The Alamo’s Storied Past: From Mission to Military Post
Established in 1718 as Mission San Antonio de Valero, the humble adobe outpost that would become the Alamo has been a true crossroads of history. The Spanish founded the mission to spread their religion and influence on the Texas frontier. In fact, the mission moved a couple of times – a hurricane in 1724 forced it to relocate to the very spot in downtown San Antonio where it stands today. Over the next decades, the mission complex grew with the help of indigenous converts and Spanish missionaries, its stone church and courtyard taking shape amid the Texas wilderness.
As secular authority replaced the church, Mission Valero evolved into a military garrison. By the early 1800s, Spanish soldiers were stationed at the old mission. It’s around this time the post likely picked up the nickname “El Alamo,” either from a local stand of cottonwood trees (called álamo in Spanish) or in honor of the soldiers’ hometown, Alamo de Parras. Under no fewer than five flags of different nations, the Alamo served as a barracks for Spanish, then Mexican troops, and later the Texian militia and U.S. forces. Each era left its mark on the site. By the 1830s, the old mission’s adobe walls had been reinforced into a fortress – setting the stage for a confrontation that would forever enshrine the Alamo in history.
The 1836 Battle of the Alamo: Heroism in the Face of Impossible Odds
No story of the Alamo is complete without the legendary Battle of the Alamo. During Texas’s fight for independence from Mexico, a small band of Texian and Tejano defenders occupied the Alamo in February 1836, determined to hold it against General Santa Anna’s much larger Mexican army. After a 13-day siege, Santa Anna’s forces launched a predawn assault on March 6, 1836. The battle that followed was intense and brief – about 90 minutes of fierce fighting within the adobe walls. When the smoke cleared, all of the Alamo’s nearly 200 defenders had perished, including famed American frontiersmen James Bowie and David “Davy” Crockett. Their sacrifice was not in vain. The loss of the garrison was felt “all over Texas, and even the world,” and the bravery shown at the Alamo — by men from many backgrounds, including native Texians and European immigrants — became legendary.
News of the valiant last stand sparked a surge of resolve among the Texans. Just weeks later, General Sam Houston’s army surprised Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836, shouting “Remember the Alamo!” as their battle cry. The Texans won a decisive 18-minute victory and secured Texas independence. Thus, the Alamo’s legacy was cemented. The phrase “Remember the Alamo” remains an enduring emblem of courage – taught in history books and immortalized in popular culture.
The Alamo Today: A Must-See Historic Site in Texas
Fast forward to today, and the Alamo still stands in the heart of downtown San Antonio – a carefully preserved shrine and museum that draws people from around the world. Over 1.6 million visitors come each year to walk its grounds, making the Alamo the #1 most visited destination in the state of Texas. It’s not just popular; it’s recognized globally for its historical importance. In 1960, the Alamo was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark, and in 2015 it became part of Texas’s first and only UNESCO World Heritage Site (as one of the five San Antonio Missions). That means the Alamo isn’t only a Texas treasure – it’s an international emblem of cultural heritage.
Living in San Antonio: Embracing History and Heritage
What does all this history mean for someone considering living in San Antonio? In short: a lot of charm, culture, and community pride. San Antonio isn’t just another big city – it’s a place where past and present mingle comfortably. On one hand, you have modern amenities, vibrant neighborhoods, major employers, and a rich culinary scene. On the other hand, you have the Alamo and a host of other heritage sites that give the city a soulful connection to its roots. Strolling downtown, you can admire the 18th-century architecture of San Antonio’s other missions, visit the Spanish Governor’s Palace from the 1700s, or enjoy Mariachi music echoing through the centuries-old Market Square.
Ultimately, the Alamo is much more than an old stone church in the center of town – it’s the symbolic heart of San Antonio, beating with stories of courage, sacrifice, and unity. For potential residents, that means San Antonio offers something truly special: a city with a past that enriches its present. The heritage isn’t just locked away in a museum; it’s alive in the city’s fabric and the warmth of its people.
